Supporting The Thin Blue Line - Credit Union Donation Empowers Wellbeing Initiatives

Thin Blue Line UK
has received a significant boost to its wellbeing programmes following a generous £10,000 donation from No1 CopperPot Credit Union. The contribution will support a series of upcoming wellbeing retreats designed to help police officers improve both their mental and physical health, an area where demand for support is continuing to grow.
Andrea, a Trustee of Thin Blue Line UK, travelled to the Museum of Policing in Cheshire, located in Warrington, to formally receive the donation. Representatives from Thin Blue Line UK, No1 CopperPot, and the museum spent time exploring the exhibits and discussing the museum’s recent achievement of receiving the prestigious King’s Award for Volunteer Service.
Founded in 1986, No1 CopperPot began when a small group of Greater Manchester Police officers came together with a clear purpose: to look after their own. At a time when strict rules around personal debt meant some officers were at risk of losing their homes, and even their jobs, the group pooled their savings to offer affordable personal loans. This simple but powerful idea grew into the GMP Credit Union.
Over time, the vision expanded. A merger with CopperPot Credit Union from Leicestershire Police united two like‑minded organisations, resulting in the formation of No1 CopperPot Credit Union as it is known today. The organisation now supports more than 50,000 members across all UK police forces, making it the largest police credit union in the country.
Despite its growth, No1 CopperPot remains rooted in the principle it was founded on: people helping people. With no shareholders, all profits are returned to members each year. The credit union continues to support the police family with savings, loans, mortgages direct from payroll, and financial education designed to make life a little easier for those who serve.
Andrea of Thin Blue Line UK
said “As a charity, we are truly reliant on donations such as this incredibly generous contribution from No1 CopperPot Credit Union. Support like this enables us to help a growing number of police officers who are reaching out for assistance with their mental wellbeing, which can so often have an adverse physiological impact on their physical health too. I also want to say how wonderful the Museum of Policing in Cheshire was during our visit, it was incredibly informative, beautifully presented, and a real credit to the volunteers who run it. I would wholeheartedly recommend that anyone who can should take the time to visit. We are deeply grateful for this donation and the tangible difference it will make to the policing community we serve”.
Thin Blue Line UK
also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the wider policing community who contribute to No1 CopperPot’s monthly Prize Draw. Their continued support helps make vital wellbeing opportunities possible for officers across the UK.
