Joe Takes on the Altra Yorkshire Marathon in Aid of Thin Blue Line UK
Thin Blue Line UK is proudly continuing to cheer on fundraising champion Joe as he takes on the Altra Yorkshire Marathon today on Sunday 18th October 2026, a significant milestone in his incredible challenge to run 2,026 miles during 2026 in support of the charity's work supporting the mental health and wellbeing of serving and retired police officers across the United Kingdom.
Joe, a serving Inspector with West Yorkshire Police, has committed himself to the ambitious challenge of running 2,026 miles during 2026 while raising funds and awareness for Thin Blue Line UK. Through his dedication both on and off duty, Joe is helping to shine a spotlight on the importance of mental health and wellbeing within policing, encouraging conversations around support and ensuring officers know that help is available when they need it most.
Joe's fundraising journey has captured the support of colleagues, friends, supporters and wider policing family throughout the year, with every mile completed helping to raise awareness of the pressures faced by those within policing and generating vital funds that enable Thin Blue Line UK to continue providing free mental health and wellbeing support to officers who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
This weekend's Yorkshire Marathon marks the penultimate race in Joe's challenge, with just one final event remaining before he crosses the finish line of his ambitious 2,026-mile journey. Following Sunday's marathon, Joe will complete his final race at the Leeds Santa Dash on Saturday 28 November 2026, bringing to a close a remarkable year of dedication, resilience and fundraising.
Jack a Trustee of Thin Blue Line UK said "Joe's commitment embodies the determination, resilience and selflessness that underpin both the spirit of the Yorkshire Marathon and the values of Thin Blue Line UK. Through his challenge, he is helping to raise awareness of police wellbeing while ensuring that more serving and retired officers can access the support they need when life becomes difficult".
As Joe enters the final stages of his challenge, Thin Blue Line UK is encouraging supporters to get behind him and help provide the extra motivation needed to see him through to the finish. Whether through donations, messages of encouragement or sharing his fundraising page, every gesture of support will help spur Joe on during the final weeks of his challenge.
The Yorkshire Marathon itself has a special place within the UK's running community. Established in 2013 as part of Jane Tomlinson's Run For All series, the event forms part of the lasting legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE. Despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer, Jane inspired people across the world through an extraordinary series of endurance challenges, including marathons, triathlons, Ironman events and long-distance cycling adventures. Jane's determination to continue fundraising and inspiring others led to the creation of what has become Run For All, one of the UK's largest not-for-profit events organisations, helping countless charities and good causes raise vital funds year after year.
Gary a Trustee of Thin Blue Line UK added "As Joe prepares to line up on the start line in York, everyone at Thin Blue Line UK would like to thank those who have supported him throughout his challenge so far. With the finish line now firmly in sight and only two races remaining, the charity hopes supporters will rally behind Joe and help him finish this extraordinary challenge in style".
