Supporting Alex's Family as They Seek to Give Him the Farewell He Deserves
Thin Blue Line UK is honoured to share a fundraising appeal created by the family of Police Constable Alex Ayre (0446), who tragically passed away at the end of last month at just 24 years of age.
One of Alex's close friends and policing colleagues recently reached out to Thin Blue Line UK to ask if we could help raise awareness of the family's appeal and encourage support from the wider policing community. Describing Alex, they spoke of a young officer who was the life and soul of his section, someone who could light up a room, make people laugh and bring people together. Above all, they remembered him as a beautiful soul whose loss is being felt deeply by all who knew him.
The appeal, established by Alex's family, aims to help provide the farewell he deserves while supporting loved ones as they navigate the devastating weeks and months ahead. Alex's mother wrote that she wants people to remember Alex for who he was: a much-loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, friend and colleague who touched the lives of so many people.
The overwhelming outpouring of support already received serves as a testament to the impact Alex had on those around him. Known for his caring nature, infectious humour and ability to make everyone feel included, Alex leaves behind countless cherished memories and a legacy that will live on through the people who loved him.
As this article is published, the appeal is now just short of reaching its fundraising target. Thin Blue Line UK hopes that by sharing Alex's story, we can play a small part in making our incredible policing family aware of the appeal and helping Alex's loved ones achieve their goal.
A Message from Bev a Trustee of Thin Blue Line UK... "Policing is more than a profession; it's a family. When one of our own is lost, the impact is felt far beyond a single force, team or station. Alex's story has clearly touched the hearts of so many people, and the strength of support shown by colleagues, friends and loved ones reflects the kind of person he was. If by sharing this appeal we can help ease even a small part of the burden on Alex's family and help them give him the farewell he deserves, then we are proud to stand alongside them. Both mine and the other Trustees thoughts remain with Alex's family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time".
If you are able to support the appeal, no matter how large or small your contribution, it would be greatly appreciated by Alex's family. For those unable to donate, sharing the appeal with colleagues, friends and the wider community can be equally valuable.
