Charity partners with Police Federations nationwide to support officers facing racist abuse, highlighting the need for support & respect for those serving their communities

Thin Blue Line UK has officially joined the Protect The Protectors: Stop Racism Against Police campaign, reinforcing its commitment to supporting police officers and staff who experience racist abuse while serving their communities.

The charity announced its involvement after working closely with Humberside Police Federation, following an approach from their Federation Chair Lee Sims. Since then, Thin Blue Line UK has collaborated with police federations from across the country to strengthen support for officers subjected to racism while carrying out their duties.

Founded by Police Officers to support the wider policing family, Thin Blue Line UK says it recognises the profound impact that discrimination, abuse and trauma can have on an individual's mental health and wellbeing. The organisation believes racist abuse directed at officers is unacceptable and has pledged its support to efforts aimed at challenging such behaviour.

Gary the Founder and one of the Trustee's of Thin Blue Line UK, said the charity's success is built on trust within the policing community. He said, "One of the big things going for Thin Blue Line UK is that we're run by police officers, for police officers, so we've built up that level of trust with our supporters and followers. If police officers reach out to us, we don't ask any questions. If you're a police officer or police staff member and you need help, all you have to do is ask. If you want to talk to us, we'll listen.

It is abhorrent that officers throughout the UK are suffering racist abuse while carrying out their duty. Supporting the Protect The Protectors: Stop Racism Against Police campaign is hugely important because nobody should face racism for simply doing their job and serving their communities".

The charity emphasised that ensuring officers and police staff have access to confidential and accessible support remains at the heart of its mission. Recognising that asking for help can be particularly challenging within policing, Thin Blue Line UK says it is committed to breaking down barriers and providing a trusted, independent route to assistance.

By joining the campaign, the organisation hopes to amplify a clear message that racism has no place in policing or society, and that those who dedicate their lives to protecting others deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Thin Blue Line UK also acknowledged the efforts of Humberside Police Federation and the wider policing organisations involved in launching and promoting the initiative.

The charity said that by working together, policing organisations can continue to challenge racism, support those affected and safeguard the wellbeing of officers and staff across the UK.

The Protect The Protectors: Stop Racism Against Police campaign is aimed at raising awareness of racist abuse directed at police officers and ensuring those affected receive the support they need, while encouraging a united response from across the policing community.
