After 18 hours on his feet, Joe's extraordinary station-to-station run demonstrates resilience, determination and an unwavering commitment to supporting police officers' mental health and wellbeing
Joe a serving West Yorkshire Police Officer has successfully completed an extraordinary 100km station-to-station running challenge across Leeds, raising thousands of pounds to support police officers' mental health and wellbeing through Thin Blue Line UK.
On Monday 7th July 2026, Joe set off at 5am from Wetherby Police Station and embarked on a gruelling journey across the city, visiting police stations before crossing the finish line at Elland Road after spending more than 18 hours on his feet. The remarkable feat tested both his physical and mental endurance, but his determination paid off as supporters rallied behind his fundraising efforts throughout the day.
In an outstanding show of support from colleagues, friends, family and members of the public, Joe raised more than £1,000 during the challenge alone. His overall fundraising total has now reached an impressive £4,095 for Thin Blue Line UK, a charity dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of police officers.
Andrea, a Trustee of Thin Blue Line UK, praised Joe's achievement, saying "Joe's achievement is nothing short of extraordinary. To undertake a 100-kilometre challenge, raise thousands of pounds for officer wellbeing, and continue pushing himself towards even greater goals demonstrates an exceptional level of commitment, resilience and determination. The physical demands of running such distances are immense, but the mental strength and perseverance Joe has shown throughout this journey have been equally inspiring. On behalf of everyone at Thin Blue Line UK, I would like to thank Joe for his unwavering dedication to our cause. Every mile he runs helps raise awareness of the importance of mental health within policing and enables us to continue providing vital support to officers who need it most. We are incredibly proud of what he has accomplished and look forward to following the next stages of his remarkable journey".
Earlier today Joe was joined by Thin Blue Line UK Chair and Trustee Dr. Gary Craig MBE for a live interview on BBC Radio Leeds. The pair discussed the story behind the challenge, Joe's motivation for undertaking it, and how the funds raised will support the mental health and wellbeing of police officers across the UK.
