Thin Blue Line UK Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026 With Message of Empowerment and Unity
8 March 2026
Thin Blue Line UK joins the blue light community at Northumbria Police to celebrate
Today, on Sunday 8 March 2026, Thin Blue Line UK
is honoured to pay tribute to the outstanding women serving within the policing family as the charity joins global celebrations for International Women’s Day (IWD), now in its 115th year.
As a charity we want to draw attention to the beauty, bravery, patience, resilience and unwavering brilliance of every single woman across our thin blue line community, recognising their vital contributions to policing and public safety across the UK.
This year’s International Women’s Day campaign theme, “Give to Gain”, encourages individuals and organisations to contribute to women’s advancement through donations, knowledge sharing, mentoring, education, advocacy, resources or time. The theme aims to inspire a more supportive and interconnected world where women’s achievements and progress are championed.
Today, Thin Blue Line UK invites our brilliant supporters to reflect on their own commitment to equality, asking...
“What will you Give to Gain gender equality”?
In the run-up to today's celebrations, Andrea, one of our charity’s trustees, was kindly invited to, and attended an International Women’s Day event hosted by Northumbria Police this past Friday. During the event, Andrea had the honour of speaking to attendees, sharing the important work being carried out by Thin Blue Line UK
to support women in policing. The event brought together remarkable women from across the emergency services for a full day of connection, inspiration, and empowerment.
The programme featured keynote speakers, interactive sessions, prizes, shared meals and opportunities for collaboration. Attendees described the atmosphere as warm, uplifting and deeply supportive, with a strong sense of unity across the blue light community.
On the event closing, Andrea delivered a powerful message encouraging women in policing to embrace authenticity and self-belief. Her remarks emphasise that perfection is not a requirement for success... “Be unapologetically you. You do not have to be perfect. You are great as you are. Challenge others and yourself, and remember there will always be people in the room who support you”.
We know that this message will resonate widely with members of our blue light family, as it reinforces the spirit of feminism and supports the continued empowerment and commitment to women in policing and across the wider emergency services community.
